Belmont Stakes odds may not favor Dave in Dixie but he will have one of the biggest names in all of Belmont Stakes betting aboard as jockey Calvin Borel will get the mount.
Borel is the biggest name in the jockey clubhouse and is the man that has ridden three out of the last four Kentucky Derby winners. He also rode to victory in the 2009 Preakness Stakes.
Dave in Dixie will enter Belmont gambling action with a record of 5 starts with 1 win and 1 second place finish with total career earnings of just over $75,000. Dave in Dixie has run primarily in California where he won his maiden race at the famed Del Mar track.
His trainer is also a familiar name to everyone betting the horse betting odds as John Sadler will lead Dave in Dixie out of the paddock.
Dave in Dixie has had plenty of rest for a run with the Belmont Stakes odds as he last ran on April 3 at Hawthorne in the Grade 3 Illinois Derby where he finished a disappointing 5th as he was never in contention or a threat to finish in the money.
Prior to that Dave in Dixie ran on March 13 at Santa Anita in a Grade 2 horse racing gambling event called the San Filipe where he finished 6th as he had nothing down the stretchy and was never able to contend. Sidney’s Candy, a name quite familiar to Triple Crown horse racing fans, won the race.
One February 13 Dave in Dixie finished a strong 2nd in the Grade 2 Robert B. Lewis at Santa Anita, which will impress those handicapping the Belmont Stakes odds. Dave in Dixie was strong down the stretch as he rallied from 5th place in a four wide dash to the wire.
In his only Grade 1 horse racing betting event Dave in Dixie finished 6th in the Norfolk at Santa Anita last October 4 as he rallied from 10th at the half way point but simply didn’t have enough to go all the way.
