Belmont Stakes wagering will have many factors to consider as the field gets set for the June 6 run against the Belmont Stakes odds.
Rachel Alexandra made history by becoming the first filly since 1924 to win the Preakness Stakes as she led wire-to-wire and held off a furious late challenge by Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird to win by less than a length.
While it is yet to be determined whether or not Rachel Alexandra will make the Belmont Stakes wagering event, if she does she will immediately leap to the forefront as a favorite against the Belmont Stakes odds.
Rachel Alexandra drew the 13th position for the Preakness Stakes and jockey Calvin Borel, who rode Mine That Bird to victory at the Kentucky Derby, immediately set out to put her in the lead.
The endurance required for such a move is a favorable intangible for Belmont Stakes wagering as the mile and a half length makes for the longest and most demanding Triple Crown race.
Big Drama, who would stand to be another Belmont Stakes wagering favorite was very nervous as he acted up in the gate at the Preakness, forcing jockey John Velazquez to dismount as the horse back out of the gate. But after calming down the horse immediately joined Rachel Alexandra to set the pace.
Big Drama skipped the Kentucky Derby and would still be considered a more fresh horse for Belmont Stakes wagering. He finished 5th in the Preakness.
Musket Man would make for a strong Belmont Stakes wagering candidate as he as a great record and has finished in the money for the first two legs of the Triple Crown including 3rd at the Preakness.
Pioneer Of The Nile had a bad Preakness but would make an excellent Belmont Stakes wagering “beaten favorite” as the Santa Anita Derby winner. Papa Clem would be a similar Belmont Stakes wagering value as he finished 6th at the Preakness but is considered a better horse than that.
