Who's Favored To Win the 2015 Indy 500?

The 2015 edition of the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race will feature all the best drivers in the IRL as they compete to win one of the most prominent auto races in the world. Here are a few of the more interesting options to check out as the 2015 Indy 500 field is filled with all kinds of talented drivers in the field.

Buddy Lazier Returns

Buddy Lazier won the 1996 Indy 500 and was the IndyCar Series champion in 1988 and 2000. He retired from racing a few years ago but he will be making a one-off return in the Indy 500 this year. He will be racing for Lazier Partners Racing, the team that he owns.

Will a Woman Win?

Many women have tried to win the Indy 500 but no one has succeeded. Simona de Silvestro, who has started in more than sixty races in her career, will be competing in the Indy 500 for the fifth time in her career.

Gabby Chaves Moves To the Bigs

Gabby Chaves won the Indy Lights series last season. This is the official developmental driving program run by the IRL every year. Chaves has been driving for Bryan Herta Autosport this season.

The Andrettis Are Still There?

It can't be an Indy 500 without someone from the Andretti family competing. Marco Andretti, the son of Michael Andretti and grandson of Mario Andretti, will be in his tenth Indy 500 this year. He has started in the top ten seven times and has finished in the top three on four occasions.

Will Helio Win Again?

Helio Castroneves has won three Indy 500 races in the past and is hoping to join A.J. Foyt Sr. as the only other driver to have four wins in this race. Castroneves' last victory came in 2009. He has held the pole position four times and has finished in second place twice.

At least thirty drivers are going to compete in this year's race. The competition is expected to be very intense between all the many different drivers who will be coming into the race from a variety of sources.
